For decades San Clemente Hospital has served our community by helping save peoples’ lives and now it’s doors may permanently close. This hospital closure will deny life saving services for the San Clemente, Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano communities, leaving the nearest emergency room in Mission Viejo. This is unacceptable.

Medically, this hospital closure will increase mortality rates, especially for our population of elderly and children who are most dependent on immediate life saving emergency services.  San Clemente residents will be forced to drive the 5 Freeway for 15 miles to reach the closest emergency room. We can’t let this happen.

Recently, Memorial Care has announced its intentions to close this hospital. Everyone in our community has either been a patient or known family and friends who have been patients at San Clemente Hospital which is why we can all agree that having an emergency room nearby is more than a privilege, it’s a necessity and our right.
